9/12/2023 0 Comments Vr headset for xbox series sIf you’re still looking to buy a next-gen console then make sure to check out our PS5 restock and Xbox Series X restock hubs for the latest stock update. Of course, neither console really needs any additional selling points, both have been consistently out of stock since they launched last November. However, this reluctance to enter the market is definitely a win for Sony, giving the PS5 a selling point that the Xbox Series X can’t match. It seems a little odd that Xbox doesn’t want its own piece of the pie. With its easier setup and more accurate tracking, via a new orb-like controller, Sony will likely be hoping to significantly grow its VR playerbase with the NGVR headset. That’s a sizeable chunk of gamers that are willing to buy into the VR space. VR gaming is arguably a niche area of the market, but as of January 2020, Sony’s PS4/PS5 compatible original PSVR headset has sold more than 5 million units with more than 22 million VR games also being sold. The Oculus Rift is one of the most comfortable virtual reality headsets available. The device is also compatible with Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux. And Spencer once again ruling out an Xbox VR headset, leaves the runway clear for the PS5 to dominate the console VR space without any form of competition. The Oculus Rift VR Headset, created by the Oculus VR corporation, is one of the most popular VR headsets for Xbox and PC. It’s clear that PlayStation continues to see VR as an area worth committing resources to. Sony has already confirmed that a follow-up to its PSVR headset will be launching next year for the PS5, the headset is tentatively called the NGVR (next-gen virtual reality). The release of a Microsoft Xbox VR headset is a question that everyone’s asked since the PSVR and the PSVR 2 was released, but so far, the Redmond-based company has been reluctant to enter. Xbox’s stance on VR is definitely not one mirrored by its biggest competitors. BTW, the controller cursor works fine, but you have to keep your head still otherwise it will pick up the input, or I turn off the USB input on my USB hub.(Image credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment) Even the PS4 only had like a 2-3 attach rate for PSVR, which just isnt enough to motivate devs to work on the platform. Some people are very passionate about VR, and some still find it very gimmicky. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better for VFR where you don’t have to continuously press switches in the cockpit, or if you use a controller and not a mouse. Id be super curious to see what an Xbox attach rate would be for a VR headset. I also have binded the camera freelock (IIRC, I’ll check it later) to the trigger on my flight stick, so I can activate and deactivate the “head tracking” at will. I managed it to get it working, but it’s not perfect, basically the game cannot handle more than one mouse at the time, so I just use the buttons on my USB hub to switch between an actual mouse and the “headtracker” depending on what aicraft I want to fly, or if I need to do something in particular (like during start up and after landing. Last thing, I’m not familiar with forums, I don’t know if long posts like this are normal or if people prefer I just get to the point so please let me know! I can map ‘focus mode’ to B, but if you’re looking at instruments it’ll move the view to those instruments.Īnyone know a workaround, or if they have plans to work on this? Anyone know about the zoom thing? Ideally I just want to zoom in and out to a set level with the one button, I don’t want an axis. I also can’t just press B on my HOTAS to zoom, like War Thunder again. I was pretty disappointed with MSFS to find that, for me atleast, I can’t do this. On War Thunder too, I can use that to look around and still separately use my wired mouse for menus etc. Works great considering there isn’t any actual head tracking on Xbox. I’m on Xbox, upgraded from the One S to Series S recently just for this sim, before all I had was War Thunder’s sim mode, which tbf is a good start for new pilots.Īnyway, I literally have a Rii i7 Mini wireless mouse/remote strapped to my headset, because on War Thunder you can basically use it for head tracking, and I’ve just mapped holding A on my HOTAS One with the hat switch to move pilot view up, down, left, right. I looked quickly for a related topic but couldn’t find one, maybe there is one I don’t know so apologies if there is.
